"With thanks to HKD Snowmakers and their SV10 technology, after
24 hours of operating time, in extremely marginal conditions of
-2°C to -4°C (28F to 25F) and very high humidity, we were able to
open for skiing and riding on October 18th. A record for us and the
earliest opening for a Quebec Ski Area EVER!"
— David Dufour, Operations Director, Mont Saint-Sauveur International
"We strongly believe we are headed in the right direction with the SV10
method of snow production at our resort. While snowmaking will always
require significant energy expense, by using the SV10201 Tower for the past
two seasons, we have noticed a dramatic reduction in our system air/water
ratios and the amount of physical effort needed to operate the SV10 Towers as
compared to our old ground gun system . Plus, the quality of the snow produced
is equal to the old system at its best and more consistent mountain wide."
— Bill Schenk, Snowmaking Foreman, Peek 'n Peak Resort & Spa
"The HKD SV10201 has enabled our Resort to open more terrain earlier in the season when trail count really matters. The marginal temperature performance is impressive, especially considering it only uses 100 cfm per tower. The SV10's four stages of water flow let our snowmakers maximize production while ensuring optimum snow quality as temperatures drop. Bottom lineHKD Snowmakers allow us to make more snow with less compressed air."
—Chris Corliss, Mountain Manager,
Mount Sunapee Resort
"This year we exclusively used the SV10 tower guns to make snow on the Hay Fever World Cup Slalom run. The versatility of this tower gun to allow lower flow at marginal temperatures and easily progress to higher water flow at lower temperatures by simply opening one or two valves, is really appreciated by our snowmaking team. The quality and volumes of snow produced insured that this run was opened well ahead of our late November race date."
—Brad Brush, Director of Mountain Operations, Panorama Mountain Village
With the 2007/08 ski season drawing to a close, the new snowmaking system we installed last Fall has more than proven its worth.
Our HKD Super Blizzard system significantly outperformed expectations. We were able to use up to 850' of hose from the hydrant, and at one point used 550'
of hose from the trailer to the gun, providing huge versatility and range from each hydrant. Even though we had a great natural snow season, the snowmaking still allowed us to provide the best venue possible for teaching and races.
We can't wait to see how long it will carry us into the Spring. There is no question in my mind that in the future, as we look back, there will be two eras in Trapp Family Lodge Nordic skiing- "Before Snowmaking" and "After Snowmaking". Thanks again for all your support through the planning, installation and operation.
—Sam von Trapp,Trapp Family Lodge, Stowe, Vermont
"For the past three years we have used a variety of HKD energy efficient snow guns, including the SV10. This gun is a very reliable, low maintenance snowgun from initial start up at moderate temperatures to our lows in the mid minus 20's.
The series of banks to add or reduce water flow is a snowmakers dream. It uses a constant CFM of air so as it gets colder and requires more water it becomes more efficient. I would recommend this piece of artillery to any serious snowmaking team."
—John Cameron, Snowmaking Supervisor, Ski Martock
"The SV10 has completely changed the way we are able to run our business. The efficiency of this gun and the amount of snow it can generate in a short period of time has lengthened the ski season making it a better experience for our customers."
